Frequently asked questions
What languages do you offer?
French, German and Spanish into English. I can also signpost you to other qualified translators who translate from English into French, German and Spanish.
Do I need a translator or an interpreter? An interpreter helps in person, in real-time using spoken language. A translator provides a written translation of a written document or content.
Are you an interpreter?
No. Unfortunately I cannot provide interpreting services. However, please feel free to contact me and I am happy to signpost you to someone who can offer this service.
Are you a qualified translator?Yes. I have an MA in Translation Studies (2006) and BA Hons in Combined Languages (2003). I have been working as a translator since finishing my studies; initially part-time until 2012 since when I have been a full-time translator.
Are you a Sworn translator?
In the UK to be a qualified translator you require an MA in Translation and experience. I trained in the UK and have the required certification for providing translations.
How much will the translation cost?
This is difficult to estimate without seeing the file as it depends on the details of the project. I can provide a quote based on the document provided. You will find the cost should be cheaper by working with me, because there are no third-party fees involved.
I have a confidential document I need help with. How can we keep it confidential?
All documents are treated as highly confidential. Prior to sending the file I am happy to sign an NDA (Non-disclosure agreement) and all files are transferred using encryption and password through a mutually agreed medium.
How can I transfer a file safely? You can send me a file safely via Cryptshare. I will provide you with an encrypted and password protected link to send me the document. I can also return the translation to you in this format.
What happens to my original document after you have completed the translation?I will send you the translation via cryptshare and will retain the original document on my computer until you have confirmed that you are happy with the translation. The translated document will be stored on my computer until payment has been received and then it will be destroyed using File Shredder.
What is your data protection policy?Your data is completely confidential and shall not be shared with third parties. Your data is used merely for invoicing and correspondence purposes for the specific project agreed. Your data and translation documents shall never be disclosed. Your personal data and translation will be stored until your payment has been received.
